About Monastir

Monastir is a coastal city lying in the eastern part of Tunisia, 25km and 162 south of Sousse and Tunis respectively.
Monastir was founded on the ruins of the Punic–Roman city of Ruspina. Traditionally a fishing port. It is now a major touristic resort.

Monastir’s Ribat :

Certainly the most famous attraction in Monastir, the city features a well preserved Ribat that was used to scan the sea for hostile ships.
Around the Ribat you will find the old mosque of Monastir as well as a religious madrassa. The Ribat has been used for many famous films, like one of the best British films ever, Life of Brian and in the Italian directed Life of Christ.

Cap Monastir Marina:

8 km from Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport, five minutes from downtown, Marina Cap Monastir is the destination of boaters and marine landscape lovers.

Surrounded by sandy beaches and rocky cliffs, Monastir’s Marina is the liveliest place in town. Around the marina, you will find hotels, restaurants and bars, attracting tourists from all over the world.
